If you happen to be one of the fortunate few to own a set of legally-purchased parts for the piece (it was public domain in the USA before 1996), you could actually rent them out to orchestras in the USA. Orchestras would still have to pay ASCAP or BMI for performance fees, but those are typically covered under their yearly blanket license.

I am aware of this, my parents have a private Collection in New York, and after they both passed I inhereted the entire collection along with the estate, and 10's of thousands of recordings in various mediums. They were patrons and lifetime donors of the Juilliard School and as well as other Arts Organizations. So and I do believe they did this when various Orchestras were unable to purchase of locate a firm to hire such works.
