Handel experts needed

Post by Davydov »

There are ten works in IMSLP's Handel category that the tagging team haven't been able to identify in the standard sources, but maybe some of the Handel enthusiasts here can recognise them:
They're all probably arrangements by others of extracts from Handel's suites or other larger works — but which ones? Thanks in advance for any assistance...

Got the Gigue...from the 4th Keyboard suite...
The Passacaglia is the famous one from the 7th Suite.
Finale is from 2nd Organ Concerto.
Andante is from 1st Organ Concerto.

All moved and fixed.

As for the arioso...it's an organ arrangement (that's probably not PD, like the other 2 BTW) of something...but not a concerto, and the only arioso I can think of close that would be is from Op.2 No.6 and this isn't it.
The Prelude, etc. is a mishmash compilation that belongs to several pieces. If I can identify them, I'll put them at the bottom of the page.
The Cello sonatas I think are arrangements of Gamba Sonatas.

That's great, thank you! I found a reference which suggested that the cello sonatas were derived from suites or oboe concertos, but nothing definite as yet...

Here are the cello sonatas
No 1 is the Oboe Concerto in G minor HWV 287
No 2 is from Concerto Grosso op 3 no 5 except third movement is from op 3 no 4.
No 3 - this has been cobbled together from op 3 no 6 (first movement) and op 3 no 2 (others).

The larghetto is from op 1 no 9.

I'll keep looking at some of the others - the arioso I think looks like the last movement of an opera overture.
