can we simply have an arrow-shaped cut-out of the US flag?

If we maintain the same size of the arrow, I think that the flag fragment shown is too small and not prominent enough.

To be honest, that doesn't look too bad to me. Only two things I'd change: a darker border, and less space around the arrow (i.e. to make it look the same as a normal file entry). But perhaps other people have different opinions...
