Collection of public domain MIDI files

There is a large collection (hundreds) of MIDI files marked public domain at: http://www.kuhmann.com/Yamaha.htm.

I don't have time to verify they're in public domain, and to catalog them all... but maybe someone here would be able to.

Since MIDI is a relatively recent invention, I seriously question any off-hand claims that such files are "public domain" without some explicit statement from the creator or author of the files releasing them to the public domain or allowing distribution via a Creative Commons license.
