tagging collections

Post by steltz »

How are we supposed to tag collections? The vast majority of them will be "pieces" if taken as a whole, given the diversity of pieces in them. Otherwise, everything within the collection that could be played as a unit must be tagged.

Yes, tag them in the same way as if they were an ordinary work. So a collection of waltzes should be tagged as "waltzes", but miscellaneous works arranged for horn would be "pieces", for example. The same applies to instrumentation — determine which instruments would be required to perform the whole collection, and use that as the tag.

Ultimately each of the pieces in the collection should have its own work page where the specific tags will be given, but one step at a time... :)
