solos within a chamber setting

Post by steltz »

Josef Suk's Elegy has the following instrumentation: Violin and cello soli, string quartet, harp, harmonium.

Is there a way to tag this to make the soli parts visible without making it orchestral? Grove Music lists it under chamber music, but says "vn, vc, str qt, hmn, hp".

I'd say that we should list the instruments required, regardless of whether some of the parts are labelled as for soloists. So that would be "hp 3vn va 2vc harm" in this case.
