For the United States, Public Domain Day 2019 (January 1, 2019) will be an important day: It will be the first time since 1998 that published material automatically goes into the public domain, specifically anything published in 1923.
I'd like to suggest that uploaders focus on scores from 1923 so that when January 1 comes along, IMSLP administrators can open up the gates and greet the new year with a substantial amount of newly-freed music.

Re: Public Domain Day 2019
When we tag items with the USA status for the year that will become PD (well for any region actually), the system rolling over into that year, will automatically remove the Non-PD status for that region when it becomes Public domain their. So we do not need to do anything.
Re: Public Domain Day 2019
I haven't been able to find an answer to this question:
I have a number of 1923 works that become PD in the US in several weeks. But the composers are generally "Locked down" and don't have a way to submit new works or files. Some examples would be Wellesz, Voormolen, Tcherepnin. I'd love for you to have them and start the new year off with a bang. What must I do?

The composer categories can be easily "unlocked" which I'll try to remember to do on New Year's Eve. Let me know if there are any others and please be sure to use the upload form for files that are PD-U.S. only. Thanks.

Re: Public Domain Day 2019
this also applies to 1923-published works by a number of composers who died before 1968 and so don’t fall into that last category (Ernest Bloch, Myaskovsky, Juon, Kahn, etc perhaps.)
Re: Public Domain Day 2019
Keep in mind when we do unlock the pages, we need to relock them after uploading so people are not uploading works that are published 1924 and later (if the composers are under copyright in Canada and the EU).
I imagine we should open up a thread (or maybe a brand new forum) for works first published in 1923 upload request for uploading them for users

Wellesz, Voormolen, and Tcherepnin have now been unlocked so that PD-US scores may be added.
