I suggest creation of a category for composers affiliated with the Saint Petersburg Society for Jewish Folk music. This was a group of Jewish Russian and Polish composers at the beginning of the 20th century who researched Jewish music and composed arrangements and original compositions that combined traditional Jewish music with late Russian Romanticism. The group is accredited with the Renaissance of Klezmer music, and was an important influence on later generations of composers. The society is of paramount importance to the history of Jewish music, and nationalist trends in music in general.
The following composers from the society are represented on IMSLP:
Joseph Achron
Joel Engel
Leo Zeitlin
Mikhail Gnesin
Aleksandr Krein
Lazare Saminsky
Aleksandr Veprik
Moses Michael Milner
Abraham Zevi Idelsohn
Leo Low
Janot Roskin
Thank you,
