PlayScore 2 sight reads music straight from a paper score or PDF using the latest techniques in Optical Music Recognition. PlayScore 2 follows the music on screen as it plays, with full articulation and dynamics. Tap on any measure to play the music from that point, loud or soft, fast or slow. Drag a finger to create a loop to help you practice a tricky passage.

The Staves screen lets you mute or adjust the volume of each part individually, allowing you to play just your part, or with the others in the background. You can transpose the music to another key and choose from 18 instruments for each part separately.

Share with other orchestra or choir members free! When you share a PlayScore 2 playing score with others, they can use the part-separated playback features free. They can tap-to-play, speed the music up, slow it down, create loops, all using our free download.

Edit and arrange the music - You can copy over scores from IMSLP directly into PlayScore 2 for play back. PlayScore 2 can also export the music in MusicXML which is accepted by all the main score editors such as Finale, MuseScore, Dorico and Sibelius.

Looks like a decent software. Personally I'vew been using Scan Score software to scan and edit music sheets. Works pretty well for me.

The new PlayScore 2 iOS 2.8 release is now in the App Store. Here are the main improvements:
- PlayScore 2 now recognises text such as lyrics, musical directions and chord symbols. These now appear in exported MusicXML.
- App now uses all available processor cores – builds a typical PDF at around 4 pages a second.
- Hundreds of accuracy improvements and more symbols.
- Accompaniment count-in feature.
- Auto-lock suppressed while app playing.
- Recorder sound makes 19 instruments.

The most asked for improvement was actually the count-in feature. This lets you set a number of bars to be counted in by the app before it starts playing. The auto-lock suspension stops the device going to sleep while PlayScore 2 is playing.

The OCR text support means that lyrics, etc., are included when you export to score editors such as Dorico and MuseScore. Text gives you all sorts of extra benefits like metronome marks, directions (e.g., Allegro), multi-bar rests, instrument names. With the improved accuracy and performance, getting from a PDF or score to accurate, editable music is pretty well instant.

One thing to note: existing documents are not ‘rebuilt’ (reprocessed) automatically. To take advantage of the new features, tap the cogwheel ⚙ and then the recycle symbol . There is also a toggle to turn on text.
