This title is incorrectly designated Non-PD. The tune on which it is based is several centuries old.

Re: Non-PD not applicable here
Yes but you cite the 1933 edition of the English Hymnal, which has Ralph Vaughan Williams as one of the Editors of that edition who died in 1958, did he make any significant contributions to that edition your reusing in your work here? Based on what I am assuming here, that if Vaughan Williams did contribute in a significant way to the hymnals, then its under copyright in the EU and the USA as a foreign work.

Re: Non-PD not applicable here
No. RVW harmonized the ancient tune for the English Hymnal. But I have not incorporated any of his harmonizations in my versets for organ. My harmonizations are entirely original and owe nothing to RVW or anyone else. The tune itself is ancient and is of course in the PD. I cited the English Hymnal for the benefit of anyone who wishes to play my versets between the verses of the hymn.

So you didn't actually copy anything directly from that hymnal then?

No. There is absolutely nothing from the hymnal in my versets. In fact, I did not even consult the hymnal. I merely advised where one could find the plainchant in print. As well, I did not reproduce the hymn lyrics or its translation in my work.
