Villa-Lobos is not public domain anywhere in the world (yet), so even if we did we could not give it to you.

Eh? He wrote a lot of music before 1923, so certainly there's a number of pieces (including what the OP asks) that may be PD in the USA.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. There are a small number of pieces he wrote published before 1923 which would then be PD in the US. And actually I just checked on this; The Song of the Black Swan (O Canto do cisne negro) was written c.1917 and is available in a collection of 5 pieces for violin and piano from Master's Music in the US, which means it is public domain. However, since IMSLP is located in a country where Villa-Lobos is NOT public domain (until 2010), we cannot allow either posting on the main site or trading through this forum until that time.

Yes, but IMSLP is based in Canada. They cannot legally post works that are not public domain in the country in which they are based.

Right, but saying it's not PD "anywhere in the world" is incorrect.

Indeed. I misspoke in that regard. Apologies. In any case, no exchange of any Villa-Lobos' works will take place on this forum regardless of where he might be public domain until 2010.
