Lists I made

Post by vinteuil »

Just for fun, I made these two lists on IMSLP:
List of compositions involving Orpheus or Euridice
and
List of compositions involving Faust
Some surprising amounts of coincidence.

It helps to give direct links for an announcement like this.

How about "Lists of Variations on Paganini's 24th Caprice"? :P

aaah - can't wait until Fazil Say's or Lutoslawski's arrangements enter public domain - even if it takes me 95 years!

Another list you could make are works involving Lord Byron's poem "Manfred." Pieces that would fall in that category would be Tchaikovsky's Manfred Symphony and Schumann's Manfred Overture.

Yes, but can you name another? Just like Romeo and Juliet, but I can only think of three or four, and A Midsummer Night's Dream, where many are not PD.

Another intresting list you could make would be pieces containing the subtitle "Pastoral." There is a huge amount of repotoire waiting for you there.
By the way, what do you think of my screen name?

Obviously, you like Brahms' Eb Sonata, op.120 no.2 . . . . .

bingo

To tell you the truth, my true love is Brahms Violin Sonata No. 2 (also with a Allegro amabile) but the Op. 120 also influenced my decision to create the screen name
