Leopold Auer Graded Course of Violin Playing

Post by dpbnet »

Hi Everyone,

This is a posting about the availability of Leopold Auer's well-known Graded Course of Violin Playing (Books 1-8).

My understanding is that these works are copyright for 1926 or 1927 by Carl Fischer which, according to the Library of Congress guidelines, means they might now be in the public domain (at least in the United States).

I have checked the IMSLP catalogue but did not find these works among the other Auer scores. If this course is indeed out of copyright, could someone with the books take the time to scan and upload PDFs of the pages? They are still used for beginner students and having the entire series available might be helpful for teachers wishing to use materials from specific sections.

Many thanks.

Anything published in 1926 and 1927 is definitely in the public domain in the US. Since Auer died in 1930, all of those things should also be public domain in Canada/the EU and pretty much everywhere else too. Anyone who has access should feel free to upload these if they can.
