Redact vocal text in otherwise PD work (e.g. Shostakovich Sym. 13)?
The full score for Shostakovich Symphony no. 13 was recently (rightly) rejected because, although Shostakovich is now PD in Taiwan, the vocal text is still protected. If the vocal text were redacted, could such a score be submitted? Although this would then be an incomplete work, it may still be of interest. In searches of this forum, I came across endorsement of such a practice for a translation, where the the original vocal text was retained, but have not seen my question answered. I do not currently plan to submit such a score but figured others may want to know the answer. Thank you!

Yes if the text were redacted, we can accept the score as a Instrumental based score then. While incomplete, otherwise we would have to wait jntil the 2060s to have this work in full on here. For Symphony No.14, we would need a new translation written in order to use that as is.

Thank you! I see the work page has been removed, and I am unable to see which user made the original upload so as to alert them to this possibility. I did notice from a separate recent thread that a member willing to do the redaction work (there, remove figerings from some Scriabin pieces) was recently provided access to the original file solely for that purpose. I would be more than happy to undertake such work for this piece as an important contribution to the library.
