For some reason (probably due to the dispersed first editions) there is often confusion around this set of pieces for liturgical use at Berlin Cathedral.
I have verified that the “General Information” on https://imslp.org/wiki/Die_Deutsche_Lit ... hn,_Felix) is correct: it matches the listing in the MWV. However, two steps should be taken to eliminate false information from IMSLP:
– The files
https://imslp.org/wiki/File:PMLP107123- ... _Kyrie.pdf and
https://imslp.org/wiki/File:PMLP106923- ... WoO_24.pdf and
https://imslp.org/wiki/File:PMLP107118- ... WoO_27.pdf
should be renamed: either conservatively, naming the second one
“…_WoO_26_Gloria” and the third one
“…_WoO_27_Sanctus”,
or thoroughly, naming them
“…Mendelssohn_MWV_B57_3_Kyrie” and
“…Mendelssohn_MWV_B57_4_Gloria” and
“…Mendelssohn_MWV_B57_10_Sanctus”.
[I prefer the short Latin titles—I find them more practical—but I don’t feel strongly about that at all.]
(*)
– The work pages
https://imslp.org/wiki/Ehre_sei_Gott_in ... hn,_Felix) and
https://imslp.org/wiki/Heilig%2C_WoO_27 ... %2C_Felix)
should be deleted and the scans from the Julius Rietz edition listed on
https://imslp.org/wiki/Die_Deutsche_Lit ... hn,_Felix)
instead.
(*) I couldn’t verify the WoO numbers yet, and I don’t think it’s worth the effort, since they aren’t very helpful.
